Depart early from your accommodation in Marrakech and begin your journey through the High Atlas Mountains, climbing to an altitude of 2,260 meters via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass: one of the highest roads in North Africa. Enjoy spectacular views of valleys, Berber villages, and the ever-changing mountain scenery.
Scenic Stops on the Way
You’ll stop several times for photos, refreshments, and to visit a traditional argan oil cooperative, where local women produce argan oil using age-old techniques.
Arrival at Ait Ben Haddou – around 12:00 PM
Arrive at the ancient fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the best-preserved examples of Moroccan earthen clay architecture. The kasbah, built on a hillside, has been the setting for many famous films and TV shows such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Mummy.
Guided Visit
Take a guided tour through the narrow alleys, discovering old houses, granaries, and viewpoints offering stunning panoramas over the surrounding desert and river. Learn about the history of this ksar, once an important stop for caravans traveling between Marrakech and the Sahara.
Lunch Break
Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the kasbah, where you can savor a delicious tagine or couscous while admiring the views.
Return to Marrakech – around 6:30 PM
After lunch, relax during the drive back through the Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech by early evening.
